Poll Code Violation: EC files FIR against Pramod Madhwaraj
Udupi: Election officials on Saturday, April 7 lodged a complaint against the district in-charge Pramod Madhwaraj for announcing cash reward to Gururaj Poojary commonwealth games medal winner thereby violating the poll code of conduct.
Gururaj Poojary won the silver medal in the men’s 56 kg category weightlifting in the 21st Commonwealth Games 2018 on Thursday. District minister in-charge and also the state sports minister expressed happiness on Gururaj’s achievement with the media persons and hinted that as per the sports policy released recently in Karnataka, Gururaj was eligible to get a government job and Rs 25 lakh cash award.
A section of the media had highlighted the violation of the model code of conduct by his announcement and the election officials lodged an FIR against minister Pramod Madhwaraj.
