Positive Response to Celebrate Tipu Jayanti – HM Dr Parameshwar

Mangaluru: “The government has decided to celebrate Tipu Jayanti. In this regard, a meeting was convened by the chief minister with all the ministers and MLAs. We have received a positive response to celebrate Tipu Jayanti”, said the Home minister Dr G Parameshwar during his visit to the District congress office, here on November 7.

Home minister Dr G Parameshwar was in the city to attend a party meeting at the District congress office. Prior to the meeting, addressing the mediapersons Dr Parameshwar said, “On November 8, the Bharatiya Janata Party has announced of staging a protest against the Tipu Jayanti celebrations. When the government has decided to celebrate Tipu Jayanti, the people of the state should support it. We have even urged the BJP to extend their support for the celebrations”.

Dr Parameshwar said, “On November 6, the CM and myself had convened a meeting with all the district administration officials for security during the Tipu Jayanti celebrations. The district administration of the particular district should decide on holding a procession for the Tipu Jayanti. It is the duty of the district administration to take the necessary security measures during Tipu Jayanti celebrations”

Responding to a question on the comment made by CM’s media adviser Dinesh Amin Mattu, on the assassination of former prime minister Indira Gandhi and comparing it with the present Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dr Parameshwar said, “Dinesh Mattu has given the clarification that he did not say that. We will drop the issue there”.

When asked about the salary hike for the police after Diwali, Dr Parameshwar said, We have not fixed the date to hike the salary, so there is no question of being late or early. Throughout the country for the first time, we have formed a committee for the welfare of the police personnel. The committee has submitted the report. The chief minister has asked the Finance minister to discuss with the concern authorities about the salary hike for the police before the implementation. We will come to a decision soon.

When asked about the elections in Mysuru, Dr Parameshwar said, “We will surely win the elections in Mysuru. Recently all the leaders along with the Chief minister visited Mysuru and met the local leaders. We have all the confidence to win the elections, the party workers are doing their best to win the elections in Mysuru”, he said.

District minister in-charge Ramanath Rai, Minister for Food U T Khader, MLA J R Lobo and others were also present.
