Prahlad Acharya chosen for Alevoor Group Award
Udupi: Renowned magician and shadow play artist Prahlad Acharya has been chosen for the prestigious Alevoor Group Award instituted by Alevoor Group for Education, Alevoor.
A native of Udupi, Prahlad has been a magician since his childhood. He is a ventriloquist, with his `talking monkey’. He is also a popular shadow play artist of Colors TV `India has Got Talent’ (IGT) fame. Some of his patriotic shadow play videos are going viral in the social media. Prahlad has also taught interested kids his magical and shadow play skills.
Pro Chancellor of Manipal University Dr H S Ballal will present the Alevoor Group Award, comprising of a silver plaque, to Prahlad Acharya at the 13th annual day celebrations of Shathiniketan English Medium School, Alevoor, a unit of Alevoor Group for Education, to be held on December 17, Saturday, at 2:30 pm.
Block Education Officer of Udupi, Ravishankar Rao will be the chief guest. President of the Alevoor Group A Ganapathi Kini will preside over the programme.
In the past, the Alevoor Group Award, instituted in the year 2005, had been presented to octogenarian P Rabindra Nayak, environmentalist N Murari Ballal (posthumously), artist Ramesh Rao, renowned social worker Dr S Ramananda Bhat (posthumously), former district surgeon Dr U M Vaidya, President of Alva’s Education Trust Dr Mohan Alva, noted advocate Shirthady William Pinto, Kannada novelist Sara Aboobakar, renowned Gynecologist Dr Pratap Kumar, noted educationist Prof. M D Nanjunda, popular psychiatrist Dr P V Bhandary, Ornithologist Dr N A Madhyastha, Art Critic A Ishwaraiah and folk scholar Dr Y N Shetty.
