Pre-election Confidence Building – DC, SP visit Naxal affected areas in Udupi
Udupi: Deputy Commissioner of Udupi District Priyanka Mary Francis and District Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi visited the Naxal infested areas in the district and appealed to the villagers to vote without fear or favour. They also reviewed the security arrangements in the area.
This was part of the pre-election confidence-building measures taken up by the District Administration among villagers living on the periphery of the forests which are considered to be Naxal infested. The SP and DC visited Amasebailu, Jaddinagadde, Mandi Moorukai, Hallihole, Sulgodu, Maddor, Udayanagar, Jadkal and interacted with the villagers.
Around 150-200 villagers participated in the interactive sessions. The SP and DC created awareness on Voting and appealed to the voters to exercise their franchise without fear.
The villagers urged to the deputy commissioner to arrange transport facility on the Election Day. The deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary assured of providing transport facilities for the voters on the day of elections.
