Pro-Kannada activists approve state flag design, CM to seek centre’s nod

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah held a meeting at his home office Krishna in Bengaluru on Thursday, with pro-Kannada organisations’ leaders to discuss the Karnataka state flag (Nada Dwaja) designed by the expert committee set up for that purpose.

Kannada litterateurs, pro-Kannada activists expressed their approval for the flag design that was presented to them during the meeting.

The CM presented before the gathering, the flag which is a combination of yellow, white and red, and bears the official Karnataka state insignia ‘Gandaberunda’ (coat of arms of the erstwhile Mysuru kingdom)

The CM assured that the design and other details of the flag would be dispatched to the central government for approval at the earliest.

He also informed that there is a provision under the Constitution for a state to have its own flag.
