Project on Multi-Grain :Eat Right, Feel Bright at St Aloysius Gonzaga School

Mangaluru : Changing lifestyle, when the younger generation is influenced by fast food and junk food, schools have prominent roles to play in motivating and educating the young learners towards healthy eating habits. Keeping this in mind, SAGS had the maiden monthly project, on Multi grain with a title “Eat right, feel bright”.The project was introduced through a special assembly on 25-06-2018. The importance and health benefits of multi grain were highlighted in the assembly by the students of class VII,VIII, IX and X. The assembly also had a melodious song sung by the choir group.

The Gonzagaites engaged themselves in activities like chart making using Multi grain, salad making with sprouted grain. Bulletin boards were decorated with the marvellous butterfly charts using multi grain which attracted everyone. Later on, health benefits of different grains were highlighted in the daily assembly. The culmination programme of the project was held on 30-06-2018 . Dt. Aruna Mallya,Senior Dietitian,KMC ,Mangaluru was the Chief Guest for the ceremony . Rev.Fr Melwin Mendonca SJ,Manager was the president and the Principal of St Aloysius Gonzaga School witnessed the programme.

The Parent Teacher Executive Members of 2018-19, also graced this occasion by their presence. The programme began with a prayer song,followed by a skit on importance of grains.The project report was read out by Anushka Kamath of Class VIII along with the Power Point Presentation.The Chief Guest Dt Aruna Mallya addressed the students on healthy and nutritious food in daily diet. The manager ,Rev. Fr Melwin Mendonca SJ in his message highlighted on having a balanced diet.

Riya Rai of Class VIII welcomed the gathering and Chris Anish D’Souza of Class VII A proposed the vote of thanks. Emerita Pearl of Class IX A compered the programme in style. The program was concluded with the National Anthem. The project was successful in spreading awareness of Multi grain and healthy eating habits among young learners
