Protesting against State Budget by MLA’s of Coastal District is Publicity Stunt – Pramod Madhwaraj

Udupi: The former minister Pramod Madhwaraj said that the “BJP MLA’s do not have any concern about the coastal districts. Protesting now against CM Kumaraswamy and saying that the chief minister has done injustice to the Coastal district in the Budget is just a Publicity Stunt”.

Pramod Madhwaraj was speaking during a press meet held at the Press Club on July 6. “BJP MLAs and other peoples representatives can go to any extent to gain publicity. He added that the propaganda by the BJP in defaming the present coalition government will not succeed as the people by now know better the benefits they availed from the former Congress government. In fact, the present budget is the continuation of the earlier budget presented by the former Congress government led by Siddaramaiah. He added that the coastal districts have better programmes in the earlier budget and the development programmes initiated would not be affected“.

Pramod further said, “The BJP MLAs should first make clear the contributions of the central government for the development of the coastal and Malnad districts before accusing the state budget presented by the JD(S) and Congress coalition government. BJP just want to defame the state government and has literally forgotten what the central government has offered for the development of these coastal districts. The BJP leaders should be aware that the development initiatives and funding for this part of the region from the central government is absolutely nil. The Malpe-Adi Udupi road which is declared as the national highway four and half years ago has remained underdeveloped, despite the worst ever condition of the road”.

Pramod also said, “The present MLA had taken the delegation of fishermen and others to the chief minister to submit the proposal for demands just the day the budget report was sent for printing. Moreover, all the demands made by the MLA and the delegation were all taken care of when I was the minister. There was nothing new and the MLA lacks basic knowledge that he should meet the chief minister much before to raise the demands”.

He added that the MP of Udupi is an NRI who has never felt that she should be visiting her constituency at least once in blue moon. As the parliamentary elections are approaching hopefully, the public will get glances at her.

CMC president Meenakshi Madhava, Congress leaders Dinesh Puthran, Sathis Ameen Padukere, Narasimha Moorthy, Bhaskar Rao Kidiyoor, Janardhan Bhandarkar were also present.
