Pumpwell Flyover Would Have Been Completed If It was on PM Modi’s Travel Route to City?

Mangaluru: Once a potholed and dilapidated stretch of road near Maravoor Bridge on the way to Mangaluru International Airport- Bajpe, is now completely resurfaced with a extreme-makeover, couple of days before PM Narendra Modi’s visit to the City today (Saturday, 13 April). Just look at the double standard games our district officials play in order to please the “Chowkidhar” of India. For the last so many months before and after the months, when this stretch of road was completely potholed and damaged, no one cared to repair it- but now during PM’s visit to the City, the officials woke up to show their keen responsibilities? Bah humbug!

Now in order have a comfortable and smooth ride for PM Modi’s car ride from Bajpe Airport to Nehru Maidan, our “DEDICATED??” officials have repaired the Maravoor road- but they were not worried about the hardship tax-paying motorists were facing traveling on this dilapidated road for the last so many months. Even the entire route of PM’s travel from Airport to Nehru Maidan is checked for cleanliness- with a bevy of pourakarmikas of Antony Waste Handling Cell Pvt Ltd engaging themselves in serious cleanup spree. If not on the other days, the whole stretch of this route, is seen with garbage dump spots at various locations.

Looks like this is the Fourth visit to Mangaluru in 5 years since Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister- and one would think wouldn’t it be nice if PM visited Mangaluru at least four times a year- then our SMART CITY will have good roads ( at least on the path where PM would travel in the City during his visit) and the City would also look clean and green, to facilitate Modi’s Swachh Bharath Abhiyan.

Now looking at the trips made by PM Modi to Mangaluru, just like the roads getting a new look or getting completed during his visit to the city (like today), wouldn’t you think that if the Kankanady Flyover was on the the Airport road, it would have not taken over ten years to complete-it would have been done by this time, when all these BIG GUYS who arrive by flight take the route. Unfortunately, Kankanady flyover being out of the way from the Airport road, it is taking its own time to materialize- and our so called “Number One” has done nothing but making fake promises- and his assurance made on this flyover being inaugurated in May 2019, will be yet another joke?

Yes, City is all geared up for the visit of “Chowkidhar” with a whopping amount of expenses, which many citizens say is just a waste of money and publicity stunt. Apart from that the City will be choked and commuters will be put into hardship at least for few hours – but does anyone care about.Absolutely NO. There were discussions made by the district authorities, regarding the mess and commotion created after the mammoth celebrations that was held at Nehru Maidan to felicitate SCDCC Bank Chairman Rajendra Kumar, that not to allow large gathering at Nehru Maidan- but now it looks like- it was just a TALK and nothing else.

Actually the Nehru Maidan entire land was donated by a rich Catholic family to city, to be used ONLY for games and sports- but things are happening the different way- and it seems will never change, even after constant requests made by the Football Association Board and other sporting association to the district administration to stop giving the ground for functions/gatherings, other than sporting events. Anyways, nothing much can be done- India will be India for the next few hundred more years, when we could see real changes in the system-until then we the citizens will have to keep our fingers crossed until we see a Real Difference and a Real Change.
