Puttur: A sad case of a man being killed by his own younger brother has been reported from Karmara in Bannur village on the outskirts.

The family of Ranganath (33) and Somanath (32), hailing from Kakanahalli in Tumkur district, had shifted to Puttur when their father Hanumantaiah was transferred as inspector of post offices sixteen years ago. After the death of parents, they, being unmarried, had been sharing a rented house in Karmala.

Ranganath had health issues and worked for an oil mill. Somanath, after completion of his Computer Engineering studies in Vivekananda College, did not get a steady job. On Sunday night, he got into a fight with the elder brother over his refusal to give him money for alcohol.

In a fit of rage, he picked up a power tester-cum-screw driver and poked into his ear and then hit him with a weight-lifting disc.

Thereafter, Somanath was roaming around in the same locality. He was arrested by the town police on Monday morning.
