Raghupathi Bhat to file nomination on April 23; PM Modi, Rajnath to join Campaign

Udupi: BJP candidate from Udupi assembly constituency, Raghupathi Bhat will file his nomination papers on April 23.

Addressing the press conference held here on Aoril 21, at the District BJP office, Raghupathi Bhat said that he is fully prepared for the elections wherein he will emerge victorious against his opponent and also his classmate congress candidate Pramod Madhwaraj.

Prior to the filing of the nomination, a mega workers convention has been organized at Chittaranjan Circle Udupi at 10:00 am, thereafter a procession will be taken out from Chittaranjan circle to the Returning officers office Bannanje and the nomination will be filed at 12:15 pm.

“I will face the elections keeping forth the development work made by the late Dr V S Acharya during my tenure”. Bhat expressed confidence of winning the elections. “Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will be visiting Udupi on April 23 and will campaign for me. He will be meeting the intellectuals and holding discussions with them”.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing the Election campaign rally on May 1, in Udupi and venue is yet to be finalized. During my last two elections in 2004 and 2008, Narendra Modi had come to Udupi and campaigned for me. This time he is coming as a prime minister and surely we will be winning the Udupi assembly constituency with a huge margin, he said.

When asked about Shiroor Swamiji contesting the elections, Bhat said, “I have great respect for him and will visit the Swamiji to seek his blessings. He was expecting to get the ticket to contest the elections. The party goes by surveys. As per the survey, the party workers have supported me as their candidate and I will fulfill their expectations”, he said.
