Ramanath Rai Criticizes Modi Govt for Fuel Price Hike
Mangaluru: “The NDA government is in favour of the corporate world and does not bother to understand the problems of the people of this country. The common man is suffering because of the hike in fuel price and many people are facing financial crisis. The Congress party understanding the problems of the common man decided to call for Bharat Bandh on September 10 against the hike in fuel prices”, said the former district minister in-charge B Ramanath Rai in a press meet held at the DCC office here on September 8.
Addressing the mediapersons Ramanath Rai said, “More than 28 important organizations have called for a bandh on September 10, the bandh will begin from 10:00 am to evening. There are various reasons for the NDA government led by Narendra Modi to be in favour of the Corporate world. The drastic hike in the price of fuel is proof for that. The BJP leaders created false propaganda about the hike in prices for various commodities and came to power saying that, if Modi comes to power he will bring Ache Din. But even after four years, there are no Ache din for the citizens of this country.”
Ramanath further said, “Modi also said that if he comes to power the price of fuel will come down but it is quite opposite now, we are seeing the rupee drastically falling against the Dollar. The people of this country are aware of the false promises done by Modi before coming to power. The NDA government led by Modi has completely failed to control the hike in the price of fuel. When the UPA government was in power and the fuel price in the international market was high, the UPA government had taken all measures to control the price of fuel. But the BJP leaders then had criticised holding protests and cooking with firewood on the streets. Now when the Petrol and Diesel price has skyrocketed, why are the BJP leaders who protested against the UPA government maintaining silence?” questioned Rai.
The Congress will also hold a protest on September 11 against the Rafale scam. The protest march will be held from Shanthi Nilaya Balmatta and will culminate near the DC office.
Former MLA J R Lobo and Moideen Bava, MLC Ivan D’Souza, Ibrahim Kodijal, Kavitha Sanil, Sashidhar Hedge, Vinayraj and others were also present.
