I am ready for a debate with BJP critics: Siddaramaiah

Mandya: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, on Monday, said, the government has fulfilled all the promises, made by the party during the 2013 elections in the manifesto. “Those who suspect can come for an open debate on the issue,” he challenged.

After launching a multi-purpose drinking water project in the town on Monday, Siddaramaiah said, “The Congress-led government has been successful in achieving 155 assurances out of 165 made in the manifesto. Let, the BJP leaders, who have been leveling unnecessary allegations over this, come for a debate. I am ready to answer them, either at the Legislative Council or Assembly”.

Loan waiver
Continuing his tirade against the BJP, Siddaramaiah said, BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa does not have the guts to seek a waiver of the farm loans availed from nationalized banks.
“During his tenure as chief minister in the year 2010 also, he had announced in the Legislative Council that it is not possible to waive the farmers’ loans. He had arrogantly said, the government does not have note printing machines. This is documented. But now, the same BJP government says it would waive off farmers loans immediately after coming to power. Only those who are not sure of coming to power can issue such statements,” he said.

“He did nothing when he was heading the government. Now, he is shedding crocodile tears, sporting a green shawl. People should brand him as ‘anti-farmer’ for failing to exert pressure on the Narendra Modi government and convince him to waive off farm loans in nationalized banks,” he said.
