Madrid, Dec 7 (IANS) Real Madrid’s star forward Gareth Bale has said the Spanish fotball powerhouses are still an “united” outfit despite having a tough time on and off-field in the last few weeks.

Real lost badly against arch rivals Barcelona (0-4) last month in La Liga and were ousted from the Copa Del Rey for playing an ineligible player during a match.

Reports also emerged of a rift between the under-fire coach Rafael Benitez and several of his star players including Cristiano Ronaldo and Bale.

Bale scored twice to help Madrid beat Getafe 4-1 in a La Liga tie on Saturday and the Welshman, the world’s costliest footballer, said the team is ready to battle unitedly, effectively denying any rift within the team.

“What matters most is that the team are united, that we win games and try to get better every day,” Bale was quoted as saying by BBC on Sunday.

Speaking about his own form this season, Bale added: “Personally speaking, I feel comfortable with where I’m being played on the pitch and I always do the best I can.”

“It’s nice to score but the most important thing is the team. I have a good relationship with Rafa Benitez.”
