 Reduce-Reuse-Recycle! Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd. (MCF) to launch ‘SWACHHATA HI SEVA’ Campaign- Plastic Waste Management on Sunday, 22 September 2019 at 10 am, MCF Township, Kunjathbail-Mangaluru

Mangaluru : addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangaluru Press Club, K Prabhakar Rao, the Director of Works at MCF said, “Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd. (MCF), is an Adventz Group Fertilizer company which is situated in Panambur, Mangaluru for the last 40 years, manufacturing and marketing about 1 Million Tonnes of various types of fertilizers and is the only major fertilizer company in Karnataka operating since 1976. Apart from catering the needs of the farmers, MCF is organizing various activities under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in and around Mangaluru as well as in rural areas of Karnataka like, Health Care: Eye camps, Health camps, Animal Health camps, Aid to terminally ill, physically/visually handicapped children (Ambulance/Van); Swachcha Vidyalaya: Construction of Toilets in schools/ public places, Sports, Arts and Culture; For farmers : Support/ promote internationally acclaimed sports like Chess; Integrated Nutrient Management : Free soil testing and technical advice to farmers; Community Development : Assistance to tribal community- Blankets, Solar lamps”.

Rao further said, “The Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on the occasion of Independence Day speech on 15th August, 2019 under the Swachchata Hi Seva campaign appealed the citizens of India for the action focused towards plastic waste management. The Swachhata Hi Seva 2019 campaign with a theme of plastic waste management towards effective ban of Single Use Plastic (SUP) will run from 11th Sept. to 22nd Oct., 2019. This is co-ordinated by the department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals as the Nodal Dept. of Ministry for the purpose of Swachhata Hi Seva campaign based on the theme of plastic waste Management”.

“Under this campaign action plan has been prepared by MCF in 3 phases as per the guidelines of the Ministry. Under Phase 1 – Awareness programme is being conducted in Educational Institutions and Township of our Industry involving the employees, local bodies and public; Under Phase 2 – Shramadan will be conducted on 2nd Oct. 2019 involving our employees, Students and Staff of Educational institutions for plastic waste collections; and Under Phase 3 – the activities are arranged for co-ordinating with local recyclers, local bodies and other organizations like Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, and Central Institute for Plastic Engineering and Technology, arranged in the 2nd week of October. All the public are requested to extend cooperation in this endeavour of campaign on plastic waste management as wished by the Hon’ble Prime Minister”added K Prabhakar Rao.
