Senior Priest of Mangalore Diocese Fr Victor Machado Passes Away
Mangaluru: Rev. Fr Victor Machado, a senior priest of the Diocese of Mangalore, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2026, at St Zuze Vaz Home, Jeppu. He was 81 years old.
Born in Bantwal on July 28, 1945, to the late Sebastian Machado and the late Carmine D’Souza, Fr Victor Machado was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Mangalore on October 16, 1969. Over his 56 years of dedicated priestly ministry, he rendered distinguished service across administrative, pastoral, and academic domains, notably serving as Rector of St Joseph’s Seminary, Jeppu, and Parish Priest of Rosario Cathedral, Bejai, and Cordel.
His pastoral assignments and academic designations over the decades included:
1970 – 1973: Assistant Parish Priest, Cordel
1973 – 1977: Teaching Staff, St Joseph Seminary, Jeppu
1977 – 1981: Higher Studies in Rome
1981 – 1990: Professor, St Joseph Seminary, Jeppu
1990 – 1997: Parish Priest, Rosario Cathedral

In 2025, Fr Machado moved to St Zuze Vaz Home, Jeppu, where he spent his retired life until his passing.
The Funeral Mass and Burial Rites will take place on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. at St Vincent Ferrer Church, Valencia.
