RGUHS Mangalore Zone Intercollegiate Cricket Tournament 2026 Inaugurated at Father Muller
Mangaluru: The inaugural ceremony of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) Mangalore Zone Intercollegiate Cricket Tournament 2026 was held on November 4 at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Deralakatte, Mangaluru.
Scheduled from November 4 to 7, the tournament brings together enthusiastic cricketers from various colleges in the RGUHS Mangalore Zone to celebrate sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline and healthy competition.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome by the masters of ceremonies, Ms. Preksha and Ms. Sophiya. The gathering included dignitaries, faculty members, physical education instructors, team managers, match officials, participating teams and students.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Rev. Fr. Donald Nilesh Crasta, Administrator of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College and Father Muller College of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Mr Nikhil Vishwanatha, Cricket Coach at Champion Cricket Coaching Academy, Deralakatte, Mangaluru, was the Chief Guest.
Dr. E. S. J. Prabhu Kiran, Principal of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College Hospital, was among the dignitaries present. Also in attendance were Dr. Amitha, Professor, Department of Materia Medica; Dr. Anusha, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacy; and Dr. Sajan, Professor and Head, Department of Community Medicine.
The event was also attended by Dr. Sebastian P. A., Sports Coordinator, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College; Mr. Chandrashekar, Physical Education Instructor, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College; and Ms. Sushma, Physical Education Instructor, Father Muller College of Nursing.
The programme began with a prayer song led by Ms. Shriya and her team, invoking the blessings of the Almighty for the successful conduct of the tournament. This was followed by the welcome address delivered by Dr. E. S. J. Prabhu Kiran.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Mr Nikhil Vishwanatha encouraged the young cricketers and highlighted the importance of dedication, perseverance, discipline, and sportsmanship.
As a mark of appreciation, the Administrator presented a memento to the Chief Guest. In his presidential address, Rev. Fr. Donald Nilesh Crasta encouraged students to pursue excellence and develop their talents through sports alongside their academic activities.
Dr. Sebastian P. A., Sports Coordinator, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, proposed the vote of thanks, acknowledging the support and contributions of everyone involved in organising the event.
The formal ceremony concluded with the National Anthem. The dignitaries, participating teams and officials then proceeded to the cricket ground for the ceremonial inauguration of the tournament, marking the beginning of four days of cricketing action, friendly competition and camaraderie among the participating institutions.
The inaugural ceremony set an enthusiastic tone for the RGUHS Mangalore Zone Intercollegiate Cricket Tournament 2026, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to holistic student development through sports, teamwork, and healthy competition.
