Rumours of AgriGold Refunds Draw Hundreds of Investors to Udupi SP’s Office

  • Bond Verification Limited to 150 Customers a Day; Women Seek Tokens

Udupi: Hundreds of AgriGold investors who lost money in the company rushed to the Udupi District Superintendent of Police’s office following rumours that refunds were imminent. Many women were among those who gathered at the office, leading to confusion as customers sought tokens for bond verification.

The process of collecting and verifying bonds and other documents from AgriGold investors is being conducted at the District SP’s office in Bannanje. Under the current arrangement, tokens are issued to only the first 150 customers each day.

However, rumours of an impending refund prompted a large number of investors to arrive at the office simultaneously, resulting in confusion. Several women appealed to the police to issue tokens to them. Police personnel attempted to manage the crowd and clarify the document collection and verification procedure.

Many of those affected are women who had invested their hard-earned savings in AgriGold and are hoping to recover their money. The rumours of refunds added to the confusion among those who gathered at the office.

larifying the situation, the District SP’s office stated that officials from the Andhra Pradesh CID/COD had scheduled dates for the verification of AgriGold bonds. Customers holding bonds from Hebri taluk and the surrounding areas have been instructed to appear at the office with their original bonds on the designated dates.

According to the schedule, customers from all villages in Hebri taluk can attend on October 29, those from Muniyalu and surrounding villages on October 30, and those from Ajekaru and surrounding villages on October 31.

Token distribution will begin at 8 a.m. each day, with tokens limited to the first 150 customers. Investors have therefore been advised to visit the office only on the date assigned to their respective areas.

Customers who are unable to attend in person due to disability, illness, or other health-related reasons may send an agent or relative to submit the bonds on their behalf. Persons with disabilities or limited mobility, pregnant women, and customers with medical conditions must submit the relevant medical certificates, the office stated.

There will be no verification on November 1 due to a holiday. Details of the taluks and districts scheduled for verification from November 2 onwards will be announced by the evening of October 31.

The office has reiterated that only customers from Hebri taluk will be attended to on October 29, 30 and 31. Those who arrive for verification but are unable to obtain a token will be informed of a subsequent date.

For further information, customers may contact the District SP’s office at 0820-2526444 or 9480805400.

Investors have been advised not to assume that refunds will be issued immediately simply because bond verification is under way. They should follow the official schedule and bring their original bonds and other required documents on the designated dates.
