She was addressing a gathering of students after inaugurating ‘Srusti Nature Club’, organized by Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology, on Wednesday, September 7 at the AIET Seminar Hall, Mijar.

Trees are the best things we can leave behind as we move on in our lives. Elders should encourage students to take up the cause of saving the environment, she noted. She added and said, children need to be taught not just to plant trees, but also nurture them. What nature provides with is not for humans alone, it belongs to every living organism.

Expressing her annoyance over the fact that her request for a hospital in her village Hulikal is not met, she said though the government showed interest in the initial stage, later it was totally sidelined and ignored. She urged the government to fulfill her demand as early as possible so that it would help the rural people. She sang few folk songs to explain how nature provided for all its creatures without discrimination. Later she was felicitated for her yeoman service to the society by planting trees and conserving the environment.

Alva’s Education Managing Trustee Vivek Alva, AIET Principal Dr Peter Fernandes, Sristi Club Coordinator Yuvarj were present among others.
