Sahyadri College Celebrates 16th Engineering Graduation Day

Mangaluru: Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru, celebrated its 16th Graduation Day for undergraduate students of the second autonomous batch on October 10, 2026. The ceremony brought together the management, faculty members, graduates and their families to mark a significant milestone in the students’ academic journey.

The programme began with an invocation, followed by a welcome address by Dr S. S. Injaganeri, Principal of the college. Gururaj Deshpande, Chief Delivery Officer, LTM, was the chief guest and formally declared the Graduation Day open.

Dr Sudheer Shetty, Vice-Principal, announced the gold medallists and rank holders, who were felicitated by the chief guest and the Principal in recognition of their dedication, perseverance and academic excellence.

Chief Guest Emphasises Lifelong Learning and Adaptability

Addressing the graduates, Gururaj Deshpande highlighted the growing impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and emphasised the importance of embracing technology to remain relevant in a rapidly evolving world. He encouraged the graduates to learn something new every day and stressed the need to unlearn and relearn to adapt to changing circumstances.

He also underscored the importance of communication skills in today’s technology-driven world and acknowledged Mangaluru’s contribution to the growth of the banking industry.

Emphasising that small, consistent habits can make a significant difference to society, he said success requires perseverance, dedication and patience, as there are no shortcuts to achievement. He also highlighted the importance of nurturing human relationships and upholding strong values.

He concluded by urging the graduates to embrace lifelong learning and work consistently towards achieving their goals.

Trustee Stresses Character and Responsibility

In his presidential address, Krishna Hegde, Trustee and Administrator, congratulated the graduates on reaching this important milestone. He emphasised the role of character development in shaping responsible and ethical citizens.

Referring to rapid technological advancements, he stressed the need to adapt to changing times through continuous learning, innovation and creativity. He also urged the graduates to exercise responsibility in their use of emerging technologies.

In his concluding remarks, Hegde reminded the graduates to express gratitude to their parents and teachers for their constant support, guidance and dedication throughout their academic journey.

Graduates Receive Degree Certificates

The dignitaries and respective heads of departments presented degree certificates to students who had successfully completed their undergraduate programmes in the following disciplines:

  • Computer Science and Engineering (CS)
  • Computer Science and Engineering – Cybersecurity/Computer Integrated (CI)
  • Computer Science and Engineering – Computer Science and Design (CD)
  • Information Science and Engineering (IS)
  • Electronics and Communication Engineering (EC)
  • Mechanical Engineering (ME)
  • Robotics and Automation Engineering (RA)

The degree presentation was followed by an oath-taking ceremony led by Dr Sudheer Shetty, during which the graduates took the prescribed graduation oath.

Skanda Ganesh P. V. and Ashika Nair shared their experiences as graduates, reflecting on their academic journey at Sahyadri. Their accounts highlighted the value of the knowledge, skills and experiences they had gained during their time at the institution.

Dr Manjappa Sarathi, Director of Research and Development and Consultancy, proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, management, faculty members, organisers and everyone who contributed to the successful conduct of the event.

The programme concluded with the National Anthem.

The 16th Graduation Day marked a memorable occasion for the graduates as they celebrated their academic achievements and prepared to embark on the next phase of their professional and personal lives.

The entire Graduation Day programme was webcast live on YouTube for the convenience of parents, well-wishers and others who could not attend in person.
