Sampya Police Arrest man for Insulting Koti-Chennaya’s mother Deyi Baidethi

Puttur: Sampya police have arrested a man for insulting the statue of Koti-Chennaya’s mother Deyi Baidethi, from Eshwaramangala here on September 10.

The arrested has been identified as Haneef (37) from Eshwaramangala and an auto rickshaw driver by profession.

Haneef clicked his photograph by sitting in front of the statue of Koti-Chennaya’s mother Deyi Baidethi in a vulgar manner. He also uploaded the photograph on the social media.

In this connection, the Secretary of Brahmashree Narayana Guruswamy Billava Sangha, Keshav Poojary filed a complaint in the Sampya police station. The Samplya police registered a case and arrested Haneef on September 10 at Eshwaramangala.

Haneef was produced before the court where he was remanded judicial custody.

  1. Did he do any damage to the statue? Who decides what is vulgar and what is not? How can police arrest him? This is ridiculous. It pains me to see how quickly India is turning into a religiously hypersensitive society. If our speech, thoughts and actions are censored this way, our country will turn into another pathetic, regressive wasteland.

    It’s important to highlight the root cause behind this phenomenon of hyper religiosity. The ‘vote bank’ politics and minority appeasement are the main reasons for this tragedy. We have tried to ban any criticism of minority religions in India. For years and years, cowards in media and other responsible positions have failed to uphold the principles of freethinking and individual rights. This has resulted in majority Hindus demanding the same treatment for their gods and goddesses. Again, mark my word – this is not going to end well. Will media and ‘secular’ groups learn a lesson? I doubt.
