Second PU Exams Begin in 27 Centres across Udupi District

Udupi: The second year pre-university examinations began smoothly in the district on Friday, March 1

In all, 15,410 students from the district are appearing in 27 centres for the examinations, which will go on until March 18.

As many as 1735 students are from the arts stream, 8457 from commerce, and 5218 from science streams. Of the total number of candidates appearing for the exams, as many as 7470 are girls and 7940 boys. All exams will be held between 10:15 am and 1:30 pm.

To avoid malpractices, the department has appointed squads at the district and taluk levels. Along with this, special sitting squads have been deputed at each centre. Question papers would be distributed by eight route teams. There would be a 54-member squad for these 27 centres — two squad members for each centre. The principals of the respective colleges would be the chief supervisors for these centres.

For security purposes, section 144 has been proclaimed within a radius of 200 meters of each exam centre. Gathering in groups or any other activities disturbing the peace near the exam centres have also been banned.

Question papers will be dispatched from the district headquarters to all the exam centres on the day of the examination.
