Section 144 imposed in Mangaluru Commissionerate on May 19 and 20

Mangaluru: After the Supreme Court ordered for the Karnataka Assembly floor test on May 19, there has been a mixed opinion by the political parties and their supporters. The Mangaluru Commissionerate being a very sensitive zone and with the recently held assembly election results has witnessed positive and negative opinions about the winning and losing candidates.

To avoid any untoward incidents from taking place, the DCP of law and order requested the Police Commissioner as well as the Additional District Magistrate to impose Section 144 in the Mangaluru Commissionerate.

Accordingly, Police Commissioner Vipul Kumar has issued Section 144 on May 19 from 8:00 am to May 20, 10:00 am in the Mangaluru Commissionerate.

With the Section 144 in place, gathering of more than five persons at one place, carrying any weapons and activities disturbing the peace with the bursting of crackers, pelting stones or carrying similar objects, shouting provocative slogans, displaying pictures of persons or holding processions has been banned.
