Senior Priest of Mangaluru Diocese Rev. Fr. John Noronha Passes Away at 82
Mangaluru: Rev. Fr. John Noronha, a senior priest of the Diocese of Mangaluru, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at St. Zuze Vaz Home in Jeppu. He was 82.
Born on April 2, 1944, in Pamboor, Fr. Noronha was the son of Mathias and Anjeline Noronha. Answering his religious calling, he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Mangaluru on December 3, 1969.
During his pastoral ministry spanning more than four decades, Fr. Noronha served various parishes and institutions with dedication. His early ministry included serving as Assistant Parish Priest at Agrar (1969–1971), Kirem (1971–1974), and Madanthyar (1974–1976).
He later served as Parish Priest in several communities across the region, including Kuppepadav (1976–1982), Uppinangady (1982–1988), Kolalgiri (1989–1996), Ranipura (1996–2003) and Mount Rosary, Kallianpur (2003–2010).
He also served as chaplain at Rosamistica Convent from 1988 to 1989.
After a lifetime dedicated to pastoral service, Fr. Noronha retired in 2010 and spent his later years at St. Zuze Vaz Home in Jeppu.
The funeral Mass and final rites will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, Valencia, Mangaluru.
