Bastad (Sweden), (IANS) Women’s World No.1 Serena Williams has qualified for the second round of the Swedish Open Bastad defeating Belgium’s Ysaline Bonaventure here.
Williams defeated Bonaventure, the No. 215 in the world, 6-2, 6-1 in 53 minutes on Wednesday, reports Efe.
Serena thus won her first match in the Swedish Open, only days after bagging the 2015 Wimbledon on Saturday — her 21st Grand Slam title.
Serena will now play 33-year-old Czech Klara Koukalova. Williams has defeated Koukalova on four previous occasions.
