SM Krishna is a Progressive Leader – HD Devegowda

Udupi: “SM Krishna is a progressive leader, he will decide his future political course”, said former Prime Minister of India and JD(S) supremo HD Devegowda. He was speaking to media persons during his visit to Sri Krishna Math, Udupi here on January 30.

Devegowda declined to comment on SM Krishna’s resignation but said that he had learnt about Krishna’s resignation through the media. He is a progressive politician he will decide his future political course. Veteran Congress leaders have contacted him to withdraw his resignation. He joined Congress in 1967, he came from the socialistic background while I remained rebel to the party for denying the ticket.

While questioned on inducting Krishna into JD(S) he said that he has not contacted anyone. He further said that Krishna has tendered resignation to the primary membership while he has said that he will continue into active politics.

“I will not comment on the Uniform Civil Code as India is a country with various religions, The Supreme Court has given a directive and when it comes in the parliament for discussion I will declare my stand”, Devegowda said.

Commenting on JDS rebels Devegowda said, “I will not comment on them, the screening committee will take action”.

BM Farooq, JD(S) district president Yogish Shetty and others were present.

  1. Please ask these veteran (above the age of 60) leaders to retire from politics gracefully and pave way to the new generation leaders by supporting them, sharing experience and guiding them. These leaders (especially maha gyani Poojary, Krishna, Jaffer Shareef, Oscar, CM Ibrahim etc.) already enjoyed the power and benefits the Congress provided during its helm, these leaders became someone from no one because of Congress Party. Learn from Mr. Advani, even though the party sidelined him but never uttered a single word against BJP leadership and kept silent. SM Krishna is greedy and over ambitious politician to resign in this age. He still need power. I had respect for him but seeing his current political statement am ashamed of him. He is the one enjoyed more and more power and facilities in Congress (being CM, Foreign minister, Governor etc.) still he want power in this age oufffff shame on him.
