Son Arrested for Killing Father and Assault on brother at Moodbidri
Mangaluru: “Paul Goveas (83) was killed and his son was assaulted by unidentified persons at his residence at Moodbidri on April 14. When We investigated the case we realized that Dolphy Goveas (35) third son of Paul Goveas was involved in the killing of his own father and brutally assaulting his brother Stany Goveas (45). Dolphy Goveas was arrested on April 16, at 12 noon, near Ajekar Town Karkala”, said the police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar in a press meet held at his office here on April 16.
Addressing the media persons Chandra Sekhar said that during the investigations Dolphy revealed that two years ago Dolphy’s mother Lilly Goveas was found in a hanging state. Dolphy’s home people doubted his involvement in his mother’s death. He was pained by the allegations by his own family members. His father put him out of the house without giving any of his belongings including his gold ornaments. There was also a land dispute between him and his father. On April 14, he went to his father’s house, hit his father, banged his head against the wall and killed him.
“Later Dolphy waited for his elder brother Stany to return from church. When he came back and was parking his two-wheeler Dolphy assaulted him with a machete. Thinking that Stany too had died, and fled from the spot”.
Chandra Sekhar also said, “Stany Goveas had filed a complaint in the Moodbirdri police station. Saying that On April 14, While he had attended the Good Friday mass, his father Paul Goveas was alone at home. When he returned home from the church and while he was parking his vehicle, Dolphy Goveas attacked him with a machete and fled from the spot.”
Based on the complaint the accused Dolphy was arrested by the police. The operation was carried out by the ACP North along with ACP, CCRB Valentine D’Souza, Mulky police inspector Ananth Padmanabhan, PI Moodbidri Ramachandra Nayak, PSI Dejappa, PSI CCB Shyam Sundar, PSI Crime Shankarnayari, ASI Kanthappa, Head Constables Umesh, Mohan, Vijay Kanchan, PC’s Sujan, Akhil, Yashawanth, Mulky ASI Chandrasekhar, HC Dharmendra, PC Bajpe Premanand, Jayanand, fingerprint experts and canine squad.
