Sr M Sylveria (91) & Sr Marie B S (77), both of St Raymond’s Convent, Vamanjoor, Mangaluru Passed Away. Sr Marie B S passed away on 30 August at 10.30 pm, while Sr M Sylveria, passed away during the wee hours, 2.30 am on 31 August 2020.
Sr M Sylveria BS (91) nee Agnes Crasta, of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, Mangaluru, daughter of the late Raymond Francis Crasta and the late Rosy Florine Lobo, belonging to Holy Cross Church, Taccode, passed away at St Raymond’s Convent, Vamanjoor, on August 31, 2020. She is the aunt of Konkani writer and humourist , C G Sequeira, popularly known as “CGS Taccode”.
Sr Sylveria (91)
Sr Sylveria served in Taccode parish, her hometown parish for nearly 25 years, as school teacher there. Simultaneously she served that parish handling the accounts of the Church, till she served there. Anthony Crasta from Australia writes, “One of my favourite cousin sisters, who taught me in my primary classes at Taccode School when she was a young fresh Nun!. A beautiful soul, quiet in nature, always smiling, she mostly kept to herself, throughout. She had a long, silent teaching and social activities career, contributing to the betterment of the society, and humanity at large, and we thank you, dear Sister Sylveria, for the same. Praying for your smooth and peaceful end”
Sr Jessy Rita Crasta (former Principal of Rosa Mystica PU College and Madeleine PU College- Mulki says, “Sr Sylveria, fondly addressed as (ಆರನೇ ಸಿಸ್ಟರ್) and “Aggi Sister” by the family ( because her maiden name is Agnes) is the inspiration behind almost all the Sisters and priests who have joined to religious and priestly vocations from Taccode. She is a role model as a teacher. I used to quote her anecdotes in my teaching career until I got retired. She was my Role Model. All my uncles, aunts and other cousins were her students, and are blessed to be her students “.
SR MARIE B S (Age 77)
Sr Marie John BS (77), nee Aveline Lucy Pinto of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, Mangaluru, daughter of the late Trinidad Pinto and the late Bridget Saldanha, belonging to Our Lady of Pompei Church, Gurpur, sister of the late Sr Marjouri BS, the late Fr Herbert Pinto OFM Cap, Sr Melwyn BS, and Sr Flavian BS passed away at St Raymond’s Convent, Vamanjoor, on August 30, 2020.
Funeral rites of BOTH the SISTERS will be held on Monday, 31 August 2020 at 3 pm at St Raymond’s Convent Chapel, Vamanjoor, Mangaluru
