St Aloysius B. Ed College inaugurates Students’ Council 2018-19

Mangaluru: St Aloysius B. Ed College, a unit of the Mangalore Jesuit Educational Society, inaugurated its Students’ Council for the academic year 2018-19. The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries. Prof. Udaya Kumar, Principal-Shri Gokarnanatheshwara College of Education, Mannagudda, Mangalore was the Chief Guest.

The Chief Guest in his address mentioned that having a students’ council in an institute is an opportunity to the students to learn the skills of leadership and discharging responsibilities in various fields. It develops democratic, socialistic and secular values enshrined in the Indian Constitution. He emphasized that the student-teachers must develop a vision to reach greater heights in their profession so that they will be able to shape the future of the country.

Rev. Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ, Rector, St Aloysius College Institutions presided over the function. He started his address citing a saying; True leaders know the way, go the way and show the way. Leadership can teach students to take on multiple responsibilities. They are also supposed to take certain risks so that they can be able to face challenges and solve them effectively. He also commended the dedication of the staff members for accompanying the students to achieve good results in the previous semester.

The programme began with a prayer song led by Lehara BS and Nelson D Souza. Shwetha B and team displayed welcome dance. Britto accorded welcome to the gathering. Mrs Sandhya (Lecturer) administered Oath to the members of students’ council. Fr Eric Mathias SJ (Director) and Dr (Mrs) Farita Viegas (Principal) graced the occasion. Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ honoured the Chief Guest with a memento. Ashalatha delivered the vote of thanks. Maria Kirana compeered the programme. Mrs Sarika Rodrigues (convener) introduced the Chief Guest to the audience and organized the programme. The national anthem was sung at the end of the programme
