St Aloysius College-AIMIT Campus hosts INSIGNIA 2019

 Mangaluru : The inauguration of INAGINIA-2019, the flagship event- A National-level Management fest, with the theme VIRESCENT: ‘A step towards sustainable development’ took place at the AIMIT campus of St Aloysius College(Autonomous), Mangaluru on Wednesday 23rd October. Ms. Joanna Rachel Vas, the head of Marketing and Business Development at Coppernicus Mobility Pvt. Ltd., one of the first premium electric bicycle brands in India was the Chief Guest.

The inauguration commenced with invoking the blessings of the almighty via a meaningful rendition sung by the college choir. The dignitaries for the day, Ms. Joanna Rachel Vas, Rev Fr Denzil Lobo,S.J. Director, AIMIT, Dean (Academics), Dr Rowena Wright, joint faculty co-ordinators, Ms. Divya Pereira and Ms. Harinakshi along with the student co-ordinators Ms. Teena Dsouza and Amith Pereira were escorted by the Management Club secretary Terrence Gonsalves and Sapna Karkera to the dais where they inaugurated the program with the auspicious lighting of the lamp

The dignitaries and the audience were welcomed by the Faculty coordinator Ms. Divya Pereira, Chief guest Ms. Joanna Rachel Vas in her address spoke about how business and sustainably can coexist. She also mentioned that Business and industry are the culprits of all environmental issues. She has been working with a motive to bring India back on pedals. This initiative has reduced almost 8000 kg of carbon di oxide within a year. Besides this she has started a campaign called ‘Kiss the Bonda’ which eliminates the usage of single use plastic. With her message she inspired the students to come up with innovative ideas to be self-sufficient and to make ‘profit with a purpose’.

Rev. Fr Denzil Lobo, S.J. Director, AIMIT, addressed the issue of climate change caused by global warming by quoting the words of Pope Francis ‘Crime against nature is a crime against ourselves’. The issue of climate change can be put an end by radical change our lifestyle and consumption habits to save our planet. He also shed light on doing something different, instead of going with the flow by bringing change in our lifestyle which will bring about a lasting change, because the world owes a serious social debt towards the poor who suffer due to deforestation and global warming. He concluded by wishing the participants to bring out the best in them for the next two days.

The vote of thanks was delivered by the Management Club Secretary Ms. Sapna Karkera. The inaugural came to an end with the rendition of the college anthem.
