St Antony English School Sastan Celebrates Annual Day
Udupi: The annual day of St Antony’s English School Sastan was held at the School grounds on Friday, December 2.
The programme began with a prayer dance. Fr John Walter Mendonca correspondent of St Antony’s Institutions Sastan welcomed the gathering.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Fr Anil D’Souza Vicar Forane Kundapur Deanery along with other dignitaries.
ASN Hebbar senior advocate Kundapur in his address stressed on the need to inculcate a deep sense of discipline, honesty, sincerity and the spirit of patriotism in children to enable them to become better citizens and build a strong nation. The nation has produced a number of intellectuals and personalities that the world is proud of, he said. India is weak only because of the dwindling spirit of patriotism among us, he added.
Hebbar welcomed the order of the Supreme Court that all cinemas should play the National Anthem before a film is screened “for the love of the motherland”, People should feel that they live in the country and show respect to the national anthem and the national flag.
Fr Anil D’Souza Vicar Forane Kundapur Deanery presided over the function. Ibrahim Saheb Hangarkatte, Merida Picardo School educational advisor, Sr Julie Headmistress of the School, William Saldanha managing committee secretary and Chandrakanth PTA President were present.
State and National-level sports achievers and outgoing SSLC toppers were felicitated on the occasion.
Splendid cultural programmes under the theme “Peace” entertained the audience.
