Students Thrash by Warden, Action Initiated
Moodbidri: The students of Alva’s college staged a protest on March 18, after they were allegedly thrashed by the Hostel wardens on March 17.
It is alleged that Warden Rajesh and others thrashed more than 20 students in the hostel.
According to sources, it is learnt that the students after completing their examination, were in the mood of celebrating. Warden Rajesh and other staff of the hostel objected the students from celebrating and thrashed them when they celebrated bursting firecrackers in the hostel. Condemning the act, the students staged a protest in front of the hostel.
According to the students, one of the students questioned the food provided for which the warden got angry and thrashed the students.
Speaking to mangalorean.com the College authorities said, “As soon as the incident came to our notice the police were informed to investigate the incident and take necessary action. When the warden was questioned, he said that the students were bursting firecrackers in the hostel for which he had opposed. We have CCTV footage and we have informed the police to take action against those who are at fault.”
