Sullia: Boy Dies in Mishap on Birthday Soon after Delivering Sweets to Sister

Sullia: A boy in kind of a dual joy celebrating his birthday and also having done well in the annual examination earlier on the day met with a tragic death near here on Monday, Mar 23.

Abu Tahir (10), son of Ahmed, of Kallamutlu, after appearing for the examination, had gone to his uncle’s house to deliver sweets to his sister on the occasion of his birthday. While on his way back, a KSRTC bus from Madikeri to Mangaluru hit his bicycle.

The bus ran over his left thigh and both his feet got smashed. As he was thrown to the ground, he had a skull fracture. Although he was rushed to a hospital immediately, he is said to have died on the way.

The driver and conductor of the bus fled the spot immediately.

He was the only son in the family. He is survived by parents and three sisters. He was a brilliant V Std student of the Green View School here. The school remained closed for a day as a mark of respect for the deceased student.
