‘Teacher Ravi Who Killed My Daughter Needs to be Hanged’- Zaibunnisa’s Dad

Mangaluru: Briefing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, Mohammed Ibrahim, the dad of 12 year-old Zaibunnisa, who was found hanging under mysterious circumstances in her hostel room on 24 January 2018, with tears in his eyes said, “On the outset I would like to say that my daughter didn’t commit suicide as the school management and police authorities are saying. She was 100% murdered by her teacher Ravi, who has been harassing and torturing her for the last few months. My daughter is not such a child to take that extreme step because she was a smart student in the class, who always secured 95-96% marks”

“My daughter Zaibunnisa (Safreena) aged 12 was a class 8 student. On 24 January 2018, around 4:30 pm my wife (Zubaida) received a call from Zaibunnisa saying that her teacher Ravi was very abusive and harassing her. I later learned that Ravi had been insulting, abusing my daughter and had also thrashed her in front of other students accusing her of not performing well during the rehearsal for the Republic Day parade 2018. In her last phone conversation with her mother, my daughter told her that Ravi has been accusing her the last couple of months. She had also confessed that Ravi had threatened her that he would strip and thrash her in front of others,” added Mohammed.

He further said, “Before she could finish talking over the phone, my daughter had pleaded her mother to shift her to a different school since she was not safe at her present school. But sadly, an hour later, around 5:30 pm we came to know that my daughter was found in her hostel room hanging. Her friends who had noticed this had informed the teachers and staff of the school. But Ravi instead of rushing to the spot where my daughter was hanging, he had called his friends to help him in lowering the body and take it to the hospital. Why couldn’t Ravi do the job himself right away, instead of calling his friends? This clearly shows that my daughter didn’t commit suicide, instead Ravi killed my daughter. I am 100% confident.”

“Even though the school management and staff say that my daughter committed suicide, I don’t agree with that. My daughter would never do such a thing. She was smart, that she was eagerly waiting to go to America to do her studies in Medicine after she came to know that many students with good marks get a chance to study in the USA. But this animal teacher shattered all the dreams of my daughter by killing her. I don’t need any money, all I need is justice. And all I ask with the legal authorities and judges, please sentence this man to death, for what he has done to my lovely and dear daughter,” – Mohammed concluded bursting in tears.

In the meantime, SSF DK District Committee members who had escorted Mohammed Ibrahim, and seated on the dais, where K P Sirajuddin, president of SSF addressing the media said, “On February 3, 2018, we will stage a protest in front of DC office, and will fight till we get justice. This case clearly shows it is a murder and not a suicide. We also urge the concerned authorities to hand over the case to COD, and that government give a compensation of Rs 25 lakhs to the Zaibunnisa’s parents. We need full support from the media and public in this regard, so that justice is served.
