Ten Arrested in Raid on ‘Game’ Centre at Dr Ambedkar Circle

Mangaluru: The city special branch (CSB) police inspector Shivaprakash and city east police inspector Maruti Nayak and team raided Ritesh skill game centre near Dr B R Ambedkar (formerly Jyoti) circle and found unauthorized operation of electronic games.

The operators were found collecting money from clients, given tokens and allowed to gamble on the basis of Ludo, video games and ball games.

Rs 2,610 in cash which were proceeds of token sales and game materials worth Rs 14,610 were seized.

Ten persons were arrested from the spot. The case has been transferred to city east police station.

In the meantime, city police commissioner Chandra Sekhar clarified on Sunday that only unlicensed centres were being raided.

He admitted that it was true that the owner of a game centre had written to him and another police officer through his lawyer that he ran an authorized centre.

The police are verifying the claim of authorized operation and further steps would be taken after consulting the lawyers, he said.
