Three persons posing as journalists Arrested in Extortion Case

Kundapur: The Kundapur Police have arrested three persons on Thursday who were trying to extort money from a businessman in Kundapur posing as journalists of a weekly newspaper.

The accused have been identified as Lokesh, Dharmendra and Manjunath.

The police arrested them after receiving a complaint from Farooq (42) owner of FM Plastic of Koteshwar.

In the complaint, Farooq has stated that on April 9, four persons namely Lokesh, Dharmendra. Manjunath and Vikram alias Vicky had come in a Maruthi 800 to his company F M Plastic, at the waste plastic cutting and hydraulic pressing unit and blackmailed him, they also threatened him saying that they would publish the news if he did not pay Rs One lakh and took away Rs 5000 from him.

Again on April 12, they came and blackmailed him for money and also threatened him but Farooq refused to pay. The blackmailers then snatched Rs 5000 from him and threatened to spoil his image by publishing a negative news story in their paper.

Farooq later filed a complaint in the Kundapur Police station. As per the complaint the Kundapur Police arrested the accused.
