London, Aug 21 (IANS) Tickets have gone on sale for the famous South Asian mela festival on September 6.

In a lucrative sponsorship deal, ZEE Network in Britain signed up as the title sponsor to this year’s London mela — which is billed as Europe’s largest outdoor South Asian event.

Tickets of the ZEE London mela will cost 6.50 pounds ($10) for adults and 4.50 pounds ($7) for children, London-based Ealing Times online newspaper reported.

The event will be hosted by Gunnersbury Park in London and the tickets for the event are now on sale since Wednesday.

The mela will feature a mix of classical music, British Asian urban artists, dance, exhibitions, comedy, cabaret and Asian-influenced street theatre and circus.

This year’s line-up includes Indian descent Canadian singer Raghav Mathur, known for his unique fusion of hip-hop, R&B, and Bollywood music and Tamil music sensation Benny Dayal.

Netherlands-born Pakistani singer Imran Khan, who rose to fame after song “Amplifier” and currently number one in the Asian download chart, will also feature along with London-based singer Arjun, known for his blend of contemporary eastern and western music.

From India, Bollywood singer Veena Parashar and stars from Indian comedy show “Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai”, Saumya Tandon and Aashif Sheikh, will be entertaining audiences with their comedy gags.

International performers like Zack Knight, Cold Fever and Sama Blake will headline the event.

“We are proud to host the London mela. It promises to be another great day out for all the family, packed full of great music, entertainment and food stalls,” Councillor Julian Bell was quoted as saying.

“The finale show by Transe Express and the famous mela fireworks will be a fitting end to a huge line up of Ealing summer events,” Bell said.

The mela is an artistically led celebration of Asian culture and creativity, inspired by South Asia and the Indian Diaspora.
