Train services Disrupted, Landslide between Sakaleshpur and Subramanya

Mangaluru: Due to landslides on the Sakaleshpur-Subramanya Road Ghat section over Mysuru Division of South Western Railway, there has been some disruption in train services. The following alternative arrangements are being made till restoration in a couple of hours:

1. T. No.16516 Karwar-Yesvantpur express left Subramanya Road railway station at 16:55 hrs. on the diverted route (via Mangalore)to the destination(Yesvantpur)

2.T.no.16575 Yesvantpur-Mangalore express regulated at Sirivagilu railway station and will be moved to the destination after restoration work is completed.

The stranded passengers have been provided with snacks and coffee/tea. Provision of refund of fare is also being made for those who wish to have it.

Atul Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager, South Western Railway, Mysuru Division, Mysuru is on the spot along with senior Railway officials for monitoring the restoration work.

South Western Railway deeply regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers on account of disruption of through services due to landslides.

A landslide next to Tunnel No. 46 near Siribagilu Station between Sakaleshpur and Subrahmanya Road stations on Hassan-Mangaluru Railway line forced the Railways to divert Karwar-Yeshwantpur tri-weekly express on an alternative route on Tuesday.

Train No. 16516, which left Karwar at 5.30 am, had reached Subrahmanya Road at its scheduled time of 1 pm. However, it was diverted via Mangaluru Junction, Palakkad and Salem at 4.55 pm following the landslide, said a release from Southern Railway here.

While the line is under South Western Railway’s jurisdiction, Southern Railway, which caters to Mangaluru region, also said Train No. 16575, Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru Junction tri-weekly Express that left Yeshwantpur at 7.50 am, was detained at Siribagilu station.

A release from SWR’s Mysuru Division here said stranded passengers of Karwar-Yeshwantpur, as well as Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru Junction express, were provided with refreshment. Provision for a refund of fare was also being made to passengers who wished to cancel their train journey, said S.G. Yatish, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Mysuru Division.

The track is expected to be restored by 8.30 pm on Tuesday even as SWR has not yet taken any decision about diverting Bengaluru-Karwar/Kannur and its pairing train anticipating clearance of the track.

SWR said Divisional Railway Manager of Mysuru Division Atul Gupta along with other senior officials was supervising track restoration operations at Siribagilu.

Mumbai trains

Meanwhile, Konkan Railway Corporation in a communiqué here said Train No. 12619, Mumbai LTT-Mangaluru Central Matsyagandha Express, scheduled to leave LTT at 3.20 pm on Tuesday, would leave at 11 pm owing to heavy rains at Mumbai.

Train No. 22113 Mumbai LTT-Kochuveli Express, scheduled to leave at 4.55 pm on Tuesday, would leave at 11.30 pm the same day. Train No. 12133 Mumbai CSTM-Mangaluru Junction scheduled to leave CSTM at 10 pm, would leave only at 5 am on Wednesday, the communiqué added.
