Trio from CFAL Excel in NTSE Exams

Three students namely Praneeth D Nayak, Prajna Hebbar and Rashmi B Kasangeri trained at Centre For Advanced Learning (CFAL), Mangaluru have successfully cleared the Final Stage of National Level NTSE 2015-2016 Examination.

Mangaluru: Success in the NTSE examination is a great achievement. NTSE examinations test analytical and logical skills. A good understanding of the subject is needed and rote learning or memorization will not yield results. Praneeth D Nayak, Prajna Hebbar and Rashmi B Kasangeri- these three students have proven their caliber and brought glory to Mangaluru by being amongst the only 51 selected students from Karnataka. A total of 975 students have been selected this year from the country at the nationwide competitive examination conducted by the National Council for Education and research, (NCERT) an institution, working in the direction of nation building.

These successful students are also called “NTS Scholars”. They will be eligible for a scholarship of Rs.15,000/-per annum for 1st and 2nd PUC/XI and XII Std. ; Rs. 24,000/- p.a. for under-graduation and post-graduation studies and later according to the UGC rules until they finish their Ph.d. NTSE scheme covers areas like sciences, social sciences, engineering, medicine, management and law. (www.ncert.nic.in)

The selection process for NTSE is in two stages. First, State Level and then National Level. This year 81,146 students had appeared for the State Level (Stage 1) exam from Karnataka which was held on 17th November 2015. The Department of State Education and Research Training (DSERT) had selected 208 students(0.256%) among them. The candidates qualifying the Stage 1 from different states are eligible for appearing in the Stage-2 exam. Each year around 4,000 students from the country are selected from Stage-I to appear in the second stage of the examination.

NTSE is a flagship activity of NCERT in the direction of nation building for identifying and assisting around 1000 most talented students studying in X standard from all over India, year after year and nurturing them through generous scholarships and opportunities. This is a very important competitive examination for students which no student should miss. The application forms for the students now in X standard are available on the website www.dsert.kar.nic.in and the last date for application is 8th September 2016.
