Tumakuru Man Held for Trying to Circulate Counterfeit Currency at Dharmasthala

Beltangady: A man arrived at the shop of Prabhakar Gowda located by the side of Netravati in Dharmasthala earlier this week and purchased certain consumables.

In settlement of the cost of the goods, he handed over a note of Rs 1,000. On verification, Gowda had a suspicion about its genuineness.

He called up the Dharmasthala police and they arrived. They took him into custody and had the currency note checked. It was indeed found to be counterfeit. He was found possessing ten such notes in all.

The man was identified as Gurusidda of Chikkanayakanahalli in Tumakuru district. The police have registered a case and are trying to trace the source of supply.
