Turn Cong’s ‘Hindu terror’ slur into a major poll issue: Shah

Bengaluru: BJP president Amit Shah on Wednesday gave a clarion call to party workers to make the “safron terror” slur of the Congress a major poll issue in the state.

Speaking at a convention of party Shakti Kendra Pramukhs in Bengaluru, Shah accused the Congress of having defamed the country around the world by using the terms “saron terror” and “Hindu terror”.

He demanded an apology from AICC chief Rahul Gandhi following the acquittal of five right-wing activists in the 2007 Mecca Masjid blast case.

“Terror cannot be linked to religion, but the Congress went to town with its saron terror jibe. People of Karnataka will teach Congress a lesson now for insulting Hindu culture”, he said. He urged people to question Congress leaders when they came to their doorsteps for campaigning.

“The Hindu culture taught the world about peace and civilisation for thousands of years and the Congress party has committed a sin by linking it to terror,” Shah added.

Shah said the BJP’s “Vijaya Rath” had now reached Karnataka. “A victory in Karnataka will open the doorway of the south to Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Telangana,” he said.

Shah said the NDA regime had sanctioned Rs 2.19 lakh crore under the 14th Finance Commission and an additional Rs 79,000 crore for Karnataka. “But where has this money gone? The money has been eaten up by this corrupt government,” he said.
He chided Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for seeking an account from the Modi government of its contribution to Karnataka. “I, in turn, demand from the Congress what its four generation of leaders — Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Rahul — have contributed to Karnataka. The Congress is answerable to the people of the state,” he said.

BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa said party workers should ensure that at least 70% of the votes in every polling booth in the state went to the BJP
