Two Children Trapped Under Debris in Banglegudde Found Dead

Mangaluru: The two boys who were trapped in the landslide in Banglegudde, Gurupur have been found dead.

The deceased have been identified as Safwan (16) and Sahala (10).

On July 5, at around 1:30 pm, there was a landslide in which two houses collapsed. During the incident, those in the homes ran out, but two boys were trapped inside. Both the boys were buried under the debris. After a couple of hours of the rescue operations by the locals,  police, and NDRF team, the boys were found.

Both of them were rushed to the hospital, but they had already breathed their last. It is learnt that the boys had come to their relatives’ house during the holidays.

BJP State president speaking to the media persons said, “Already four houses have collapsed, and there is a danger of another nearby house to collapse. We have evacuated 14 families and shifted them to the Ganji Kendra. I will speak to the CM to provide compensation for those who have lost their houses”.

Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has instructed the Deputy Commissioner to release Rs 5 lakh compensation to the families of the deceased. The CM has also instructed to identify government land and construct houses for the families.
