Udupi Bishop Leslie C. D’Souza Meets Pope Leo XIV
Udupi: The Bishop of the Udupi Catholic Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Leslie Clifford D’Souza, met Pope Leo XIV in Vatican City on Thursday, September 10, for the first time since assuming office, and received the Holy Father’s blessings.
Pope Leo XIV met all the newly appointed bishops from around the world on Thursday and later held separate meetings with bishops from individual dioceses.
During the meeting, Bishop Leslie, on behalf of the Udupi Diocese, honoured Pope Leo XIV by presenting him with a traditional shawl and a statue of Our Lady of Milagres, the diocese’s patroness. Bishop Leslie also conveyed the good wishes of the faithful of the Udupi Diocese and briefed the Holy Father on the diocese’s situation and progress.
In response, Pope Leo XIV conveyed his greetings and blessings to all the faithful of the Udupi Diocese.
