Udupi: Bishop’s House Shares the Spirit and Joy of Christmas with Journalists

Udupi: Christmas season is one of those days that just seems to be filled with cheer and wonder. Whether you are celebrating a fun-filled or religious Christmas, your day is sure to be filled with happiness. Celebrating Christmas with friends and colleagues is the best thing one can ever do during Christmas time. And with that Christmas spirit in mind, Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, the Bishop of Udupi diocese, organised a “Christmas Get-together” with mediapersons of Udupi on Wednesday, December 23 at the Bishop’s House.

Fr Denis D’Sa, Public Relations Officer of Udupi Diocese, welcomed the gathering. The programme was inaugurated by Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo by cutting the Christmas cake along with Dr Krishnaprasad (Director, Prasad Netralaya Udupi), Rohini (Information officer of the district), Jayakar Suvarna (President UDWJA), Fr Denis D’Sa (PRO Udupi), Nazir Polya (Correspondent Vartha Bharathi Daily) and Michael Rodrigues (Media Coordinator Udupi Diocese).

In his message, Dr Krishnaprasad, Medical Director of Prasad Nethralaya, said that the celebrations and style of living of the Christian community is full of life and discipline. “They share the joy of life and happiness among others which inspires us. Udupi district is the hub for bonding and brotherhood,” he added.

Bishop Gerald in his presidential message said that celebrating life is Christmas. “Love, happiness, peace and joy are the symbols of Christmas, which should prevail over the society in all walks of the life. Peace and love should emerge from our hearts; only then will it leave a huge impact on the society. The journalists of Udupi have supported the noble initiatives of the diocese and they have played a major role in building and development of the diocese,” he said.

The Bishop also announced that the Diocese of Udupi will be contributing the collections of Christmas Day mass for the rehabilitation of victims of floods in Tamil Nadu.

Rohini and Jayakar Suvarna conveyed their Christmas wishes on the occasion. Nagaraj Rao (Correspondent E TV Kannada) and Subhaschandra Wagle (Correspondent Kannada Prabha) shared their views on the occasion. Deepak Jain (Correspondent of Public TV), who is getting married next week, was felicitated by the Bishop.

Michael Rodrigues, Media Coordinator of Udupi Diocese, delivered the vote of thanks. Fr Chethan Lobo, Editor Uzvaad, compered the programme.
