Udupi: Child Labourers of West-Bengal Origin Rescued from Goldsmith’s Shop

Udupi: Officials of the Labour Department rescued two 12-year-old boys, hailing from West Bengal, who were engaged in child labour at a gold jewellery making shop on Tuesday, March 24 at Chittaranjan Circle.

Based on a complaint, a seven-member team from the Child Labour Project, Labour Department and Child Protection Office visited the gold making shop located at Chittaranjan Circle Udupi and rescued the boys.

The Child labour officer said that the boys have been handed over to Spoorthi Dhama Child Workers Rehabilitation Centre Kedoor, Koteshwara.

A case has been filed against the shop owner.

Labour officer Jnanesh, Jeevan Kumar, Sathyanarayan, Shobha, Yogish and Keshav Koteshwar took part in this operation.
