Udupi : Deputy Commissioner R Vishal Launches ‘Heli tourism’ , to Boost Tourism in District

Udupi: The district administration has initiated several new measures to boost tourism in Udupi district, a new addition to it is heli-tourism, which was launched by Deputy Commissioner Dr. R Vishal at helipad in Udupi here, on February 15.

Speaking to the mediapersons, Dr. Vishal said that Udupi has good feasibility to introduce heli-tourism. The tourists can avail helicopter service and visit Udupi and spend quality time. The business tourism can be promoted as businessmen and top executives can drop in to Udupi. The affordability factor is also considered, the people can avail jolly ride through helicopter. An in-principal approval has been given. “Earlier we had planned to set up three helipads in the district, it has now been decided that the one helipad that already exists at Adi Udupi will be used for the time being,” he added.

The security measures are thoroughly followed to ensure the safety of the consumers. The demand factor will be considered for the continuity of the service. As helipad in the prime location, the tourist places are easily accessible. “The health tourism is also gaining importance which is a factor to be taken into consideration. The potential of this initiative will be ascertain as the time changes,” he added.

Sunil Narayan of Chipsa Aviation said that Udupi being a very strategic point for tourism. The business proposition will decide on the continuity of the service. The service is started on a trial basis. “The helicopter service here can boost pilgrimage tourism, business tourism and health tourism,” he added.

The helicopter ride for viewing Udupi for 10 minutes will cost rupees 3000, the discounted fare for students is rupees 2600. The helicopter has a capacity to carry 6 passengers at a time.
