Udupi Diocese Mourns the Sudden Demise of Fr Mahesh D’Souza

Udupi: The Udupi Diocese mourned the sudden death of the young and energetic priest and principal of Don Bosco English School Shirva.

In a press release issued by the Diocese, it has been stated, “In a shocking incident, Fr Mahesh D’Souza, Assistant Parish Priest of Shirva church and Principal of Don Bosco CBSE School, was found dead in the office room on October 11, 2019.

Fr Mahesh D’Souza hails from Moodubelle. He was born on 30 March 1983 as the second son of Frederick and Matilda D’Souza, he was ordained as the first Priest of the newly formed Udupi Diocese on 15th April 2013.

Since 2013, Fr Mahesh served as Assistant Parish Priest of the Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur and Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte. At the same time, he was the Headmaster in-charge of Milagres English Medium School.

In 2016, he was appointed Asst. Parish Priest of Shirva Church and Principal of Don Bosco CBSE School. He worked selflessly for the development of Don Bosco CBSE School. He was loved by the school children and the parents for his simplicity and kindness.

He was a good teacher, able administrator, inspiring leader, a disciplinarian, generous soul, good organizer and above all a good Pastor.

His sudden demise has sent shockwaves among his family members, parishioners, staff, students and admirers.

May Almighty God grant him eternal rest and comfort his parents, family members, parishioners, Don Bosco family and all his near and dear ones and grant them grace and strength to bear this great loss and grief.

Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, the Bishop of Udupi Diocese, and all the priests of the diocese have condoled the death of Fr Mahesh.

The funeral rites will be held on Tuesday, 15th October 2019 at Our Lady of Health Church Shirva at 03:00 pm.
