Udupi Dist Admin clamps Section 144(3) to prevent public gathering to Check Covid -19

Udupi: The Deputy Commissioner of Udupi District G Jagadeesha on Wednesday, March 18, imposed prohibitory orders under section 144(3) of CRPC in the district to prevent the mass gathering of people.

As a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19 entry to tourist places in Udupi district is banned. It has become necessary to restrict gathering of people in large numbers at one place in view to contain the spreading of coronavirus and for the safety of the people and public health, he said.

“With a view to remove the fear among people, for the safety of people and health of the public and for peace,” section 144(3) of the CrPC is being imposed in the city,” DC said.

“Through this order, all social, political, cultural, religious, sports, trade exhibitions and camps, tourism, meeting, rallies, protests and other programmes have been restricted”.

The DC has asked the religious and community leaders to take steps to prevent crowd gathering at places of worship like Temples, Churches and Mosques as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

The DC has also issued a host of dos and don’ts for the paying guest accommodations and hostels, for provision stores and supermarkets. While PGs and hostels have been instructed to give holidays, so that the inmates can go home, he said.
