Udupi Dist Police holds ‘Selfie with Signature campaign’ against Drug Abuse

Udupi: Sensitizing students and parents on drug abuse, the Udupi district police organized the “Selfie with Signature”, campaign at the Canara Mall, Manipal on Saturday, August 3.

Tulu and Kannada film actor Prithvi Ambar along with other dignitaries inaugurated the “Selfie with Signature” campaign by signing on the banner and with the colour imprint of their hands on the canvas.

In his message, Prithvi Ambar said, “Today, youth are bad at interpersonal relationships, lack concentration and relationship which compels them to take drugs. It is necessary to create more awareness so that youth stay away from the menace of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances”.

Nisha James, Superintendent of Police Udupi District in her message said that it is high time we made the youth aware of the ill-effects of drug abuse as the youth are increasingly falling prey to bad habits. They must understand that such habits at their age could spoil their health and career.

Temporary satisfaction and pleasure will ruin the lives of the young generation. The incidents of drug abuse and alcohol consumption are drastically increasing among the younger age group. Prevention of drug abuse would ensure the well-being of children and youth, their families and society. While saying ‘no’ to drugs, students should also create awareness of the disastrous effects of drugs,” she stressed.

CPI Udupi Manjunath welcomed the gathering, while DySP Jai Shanker delivered the vote of thanks. Shivananda Nairy compered the programme.

After the inaugural function, the public and students in big numbers participated in the signature campaign and selfie awareness programme.
