Udupi: The Politicians of Dakshina Kannada district are slaves of landlords alleged Malekudiya association leader Shekar. He was speaking at the protest organized by Karnataka Komu Souhardha Vedike in association with Dalitha Sangarsha Samithi, CPIM and left parties demanding arrest of Gopal Krishna Gowda facing charges of brutal attack and chopping the fingers of Sunder Malekudiya. The protest was held in-front of the Clock Tower here on August 7.
CPIM Beltangady unit will not allow the authorities to hoist the national flag until the assailants of Sunder Malekudiya are arrested. The Congress government came to power promising welfare of the backward classes but their promises are in vain. Ministers and MLA’s have remained silent on this issue.
Gopal Krishna Gowda and his associates chopped Sunder Malekudiya’s fingers and cut down his right hand with a weed cutting machine which shows the cruelty and hatred towards tribals. The landlords in Beltangady region are suppressing the tribal’s who cultivate the land to earn their livelihood.
The police department has failed to nab Gopal Krishna Gowda and his associates which clearly states that our system has failed. The delay in initiating action against Gowda gave him time to hide. The state government should soon intervene and direct the police department to initiate action against Gopal Krishna Gowda and his associates. The forest land acquired by Gowda should be acquired.

Very disturbing! This reminds me of a Christian teacher in Kerala who lost his hands for breaking the unofficial sharia imposed all over India. I’m glad to see that Malekudiya community coming together to fight for justice. Unfortunately the Kerala lecturer was fired from his job and abandoned by his own community. This is the India in 2015!! How sad!
