Udupi: Malpe-Manipal-Thirthahalli National Highway DPR yet to be approved

Udupi: The work order for the preparation of detailed project report of Malpe-Manipal-Thirthahalli road is yet to be approved by the National Highways Authority of India said NHAI officer during the Engineers Meeting chaired by MLA Pramod Madhwaraj. The meeting was held at the Taluk Panchayat here on October 6.

The Malpe-Manipal-Thirthahalli road has been upgraded to National Highway by the central government. The agency was given the job for the preparation of detailed project report in March, 2015, likewise the NHAI Bangalore had proposed the central government for approval of the same. The NHAI had proposed for periodical renewal of NH-169A costing Rs 3.68 crore and widening of intermediate road to four lane from KM 75.500 to KM 84.00 within city limits. The proposal is needed to be approved for fixing the damaged road issues.

Pramod Madhwaraj said that he had communicated the issue to Shobha Karandlaje for consulting the central government on same. He also directed the NHAI officials to take up the issue with their higher officials.

The engineers of PMGSY said that 20Km of road was under maintenance and they have adequate funds to repair the road if damages were reported. The officials of CMC said that for the 800 Km stretch a proposal for repairs was ready. The officials said that the roads will be repaired by Dec 31.

Pramod Madhwaraj said that the work worth Rs 110 crore of road construction was ongoing and some have already been completed. He also said that the departments should complete the road repair work by December 15.
